Prior to joining 361 Capital, Clifford Stanton was Chief Research Officer for Envestnet, Inc., where he also co-chaired the firm’s investment committee, managed its research department, and oversaw asset allocation product development. Before Envestnet, Mr. Stanton was Chief Investment Officer at Prima Capital, which was acquired and folded into Envestnet in 2012. In a company release announcing the hiring of Mr. Stanton, Florence cited Stanton’s “many years of experience working directly with investment advisors” and his “proven experience designing and building asset allocation models” using alternative investments. Given the prestigious, executive-level positions that Mr. Stanton has held in the past, Mr. Florence said 361 Capital was “fortunate to attract him” and that his coworkers at 361 are “excited to have him on the team.”

Founded in 2001, 361 Capital bills itself as a pioneer in delivering alternative investment strategies to investors via “highly liquid” products. The firm currently offers four alternative mutual funds, three of which have been trading long enough to look at year-to-date returns. All three of these funds are in the top one-third of their categories:

All returns are through September 4, 2014, and are based on data from Morningstar.com.
