Video: Advisors Adding to Alternatives

Despite a performance lag versus the equity markets over the past five years, advisors increased their allocations to hedge funds in 2013, according to an annual asset allocation survey performed by Penta magazine. In fact, many advisors are using hedge funds as an alternative to fixed income allocations, and in those cases, hedge funds have done quite well, especially over the past year. In the below video, Penta magazine’s editor Richard Morais explains the changes that advisors are making in their portfolios and discusses the types of investments are getting new allocations.
