Alternative Investments/ESG: The New Fixed Income SPDR ETF From State Street For ESG Investors
State Street wants to expand choices for ESG-minded fixed-income investors.
The new SPDR Bloomberg SASB Corporate Bond ESG Select ETF (NYSEARCA: RBND) from State Street Global Advisors expands the asset manager’s ESG lineup. The ETF suits investors seeking exposure to US dollar-denominated investment-grade corporate bonds with accompanying ESG attributes. (BusinessWire)
The SPDR Bloomberg SASB Corporate Bond ESG Select ETF
The ETF tracks the Bloomberg SASB US Corporate ESG Ex-Controversies Select Index. The index was developed by Bloomberg in collaboration with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB).
The Bloomberg SASB US Corporate ESG Ex-Controversies Select Index is designed to measure the performance of investment-grade corporate bonds issued by companies that exhibit certain environmental, social, and governance (ESG) characteristics, while also minimizing active total risk versus the Bloomberg Barclays US Corporate Index.
The Bloomberg Barclays US Corporate Index represents publicly issued, investment-grade, fixed-rate, taxable, U.S. dollar-denominated corporate bonds issued by U.S. and non-U.S. industrial, utility, and financial institutions. These should have a remaining maturity of greater than or equal to 1 year and have $300 million or more of par amount outstanding.
Investors want more choice
“Investors’ increasing appetite for cost-effective ESG solutions is not exclusive to the equity allocations in their portfolios,” said Noel Archard, global head of SPDR product at State Street Global Advisors.
“With the launch of RBND, SPDR’s first fixed income ESG ETF publicly offered in the US, investors will now be able to better align their core fixed income exposures with their investment goals.”
