Top Nvidia OEMs now offer certified accelerated servers for AI and machine learning applications.

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) announced in a blog on Tuesday that its biggest OEMs were now offering NVIDIA-Certified Systems. These are a new class of accelerated servers designed and tested for modern workloads such as AI and data analytics, and suitable for processes running at data center locations, and on the edge of the corporate network. The systems feature NVIDIA’s latest GPUs that ride NVIDIA Mellanox networks and speed up processing for AI. (NVIDIA)

Top OEMs offering NVIDIA-Certified Systems

The following OEMs feature the company’s A100 Tensor Core GPUs:

  • Dell EMC PowerEdge R7525 and R740 rack servers
  • GIGABYTE R281-G30, R282-Z96, G242-Z11, G482-Z54, G492-Z51 systems
  • HPE Apollo 6500 Gen10 System and HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Server
  • Inspur NF5488A5
  • Supermicro A+ Server AS -4124GS-TNR and AS -2124GQ-NART

These are systems equipped to tackle the toughest tasks in machine learning, data analytics, and similar.

Do the systems qualify for the badge? The testing process

Nvidia tests the systems on real-world use cases spanning:

  • Deep learning training and inference
  • Machine learning algorithms
  • Intelligent video analytics
  • Network and storage offload

Furthermore, the tech giant tests them on a wide variety of workloads, from jobs that require multiple compute nodes to tasks that only need part of the power of a single GPU.

The evolution to the edge

Increasingly, enterprises want to run their AI processes and training of models close to the edge of their networks, rather than on the cloud.

According to Nvidia executive Adel El Hallak, who was speaking to VentureBeat, organizations will need to be able to update AI models as they are running, at the network edge.

“You need to be able to bring the model to where the action is taking place,” Hallak said.

And that would be in real-time. U.S. corporates are already well along this path. For example:

  • American Express (NYSE: AXP) – Using AI models to detect fraud
  • Ford (NYSE: F) – AI models in testing self-driving cars
  • Domino’s Pizza (NYSE: DPZ) – Using AI for predicting “order-ready” times

“The rising tide of data and the expanding AI models to sift through it are spawning an exponential increase in network traffic both in the data center and at the network’s edge,” Nvidia says. “To cope, companies need a secure, reliable, and high-speed infrastructure that scales efficiently.”
