Alternative Investments/Real Estate: Avantis Launches Active Real Estate ETF
The ETF seeks to provide exposure to real estate companies with lower leverage.
Avantis Investors has launched Avantis Real Estate ETF (NYSEARCA: AVRE), an actively managed real estate ETF that provides exposure to real estate securities focused on income derived from real estate investments and structured in a similar way as real estate investment trusts (REITs). Avantis also launched, at the same time, three ETFs that deliver exposure to value stocks.

All the funds are co-managed by Eduardo Repetto, Chief Investment Officer at Avantis, and senior portfolio managers Ted Randall, Mitchell Firestein and Daniel Ong.
The AVRE ETF pursues the benefits associated with indexing (diversification, low turnover, transparency of exposures), but with the ability to add value by making investment decisions using information in current prices.
The fund invests primarily in a diverse group of real estate securities globally, in particular real estate investment trusts (REITs) and REIT-like entities.
It tracks the S&P Global REIT Index and has an expense ratio of 0.17%.
Holdings, as at October 4, include:
- American Tower Corp (NYSE: AMT) – 6.68%
- Prologis Inc (NYSE: PLD) – 5.04%
- Public Storage (NYSE: PSA) – 3.70%
- Crown Castle International Corp (NYSE: CCI) – 3.69%
“We are focused on putting strategies into the market where clients have asked for our help,” said Repetto. “These are important asset classes for our clients, and we’re thrilled to provide them with competitively priced, tax-efficient solutions to incorporate in their portfolios.”
