Yieldstreet has launched a new venture capital-focused platform for retail investors.

Digital alternative investment platform Yieldstreet announced Thursday the launch of its new venture capital focused platform that allows retail investors exposure to private companies and start-ups that are disrupting existing sectors of creating entirely new ones. The move reflects the increasing demand for alternative investments to be made available easily to retail investors. Returns on venture capital in 2020 were more than 50% and have averaged 32% over the past 25 calendar years. (BusinessWire)

According to a statement, the pandemic has accelerated innovation and, therefore, the reliance on technology and tech enabled services. As a result returns on investments on venture capital are expected to continue to be very attractive.

Global venture funding exceeded $300 billion in 2020. It has already scaled $288 billion during the first half of 2021, indicating that the trend is likely to intensify.

Wealth creation no longer the preserve of the ultra-wealthy

Michael Weisz, Founder and President, said that the ultra-wealthy and institutions no longer have a lock on harder to access markets such as venture capital.

“With technology, education and the access that Yieldstreet provides, retail investors have another option to generate new sources of returns outside of public markets, in this case, through venture capital,” he said.

With the new VC platform,Yieldstreet is seeking to break the exclusive grip that the wealthy and institutional investors have on wealth creation strategies.

Earlier this month ,CB Insights named Yieldstreet as a Top Fintech Startup for the second year in a row as part of its fourth annual Fintech 250 list.

That is a prestigious roster of top private fintech companies using technology to transform financial services.

In its statement, Yieldstreet said its mission is to help millions of people generate $3 billion of income outside the traditional public markets by 2025.
