Levi Strauss intends use AI to introduce diversity in the models for its many products.

Levi Strauss & Co. (NYSE: LEVI) has announced a partnership with Lalaland.ai, a digital fashion studio that creates AI-generated models. The Amsterdam-based company uses advanced AI technology to create hyper-realistic models of different body types, ages, sizes, and skin tones to provide a more inclusive, personal, and sustainable shopping experience for fashion brands, retailers, and customers.

Levi Strauss plans to test this technology later this year, supplementing human models with AI-generated ones to increase the number and diversity of models for its products. The company aims to create a more diverse and inclusive customer experience by reflecting its broad consumer base through diversifying its human models in terms of size, body type, age, and skin color. Dr. Amy Gershkoff Bolles, Levi Strauss’ global head of digital and emerging technology strategy, sees AI technology as a potential capability to enhance the consumer experience but believes that AI-generated models are not a sole solution for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Levi Strauss has been focusing on diversifying its content in front of and behind the camera to reflect its diverse consumer base.

Levi Strauss plans to continue its digital transformation journey by investing in the latest technologies to enhance the customer experience, whether in physical stores or online. The company’s innovation framework evaluates emerging technologies that add value for both customers and the business.

The AI technology by Lalaland.ai has the potential to assist Levi Strauss in creating a more personal, relevant, and engaging customer experience, reflecting its diverse consumer base.
