Dennis Davitt Joins Hedge Fund Malachite Capital (And Other People on the Move)

Davitt comes to Malachite Capital from Harvest Volatility Management.

Malachite Capital has hired David Davitt as a Portfolio Manager and Head of Malachite Equity Strategies.

The new manager will “run a suite of low-cost equity replacement strategies using listed options. The strategies are also designed to provide exposure with lower volatility, according to a company press release. The company will launch Davitt’s strategies during the first quarter of 2020.

Prior to this role, Davitt Davitt was a Partner/Portfolio Manager at Harvest Volatility Management for more than six years. During his time, he oversaw all trading (proprietary, automated, flow) and risk management.

Further, Malachite Capital Management is a Manhattan-based global equity derivative investment manager. Managing Partners and Co-Founders Joseph Aiken and Jacob Weinig launched the firm in 2013.

  • First, Felix Scherzer is leaving Credit Suisse after five years to start his own firm. Scherzer served as the firm’s head of M&A with a focus on financial firms. He joined the Swiss firm in 2015 after a stint with Morgan Stanley. Read more. 
  • Next, Searchlight Capital Partners announced the appointment of Andrew Claerhout as a Partner. Claerhout will join Searchlight Partner Darren Glatt as leaders of the firm’s infrastructure investment team. Claerhout joins the company after roughly 13 years at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.   • Meanwhile, Mesirow Financial has named Natalie Brown as its newest CFO and as a member of the board of directors. Brown comes over from a 20-year stint at Nuveen Investments. Her most recent role was managing director, head of Nuveen Advisory Services Finance. Brown previously Previously, she worked at Kraft Foods and KPMG. Read more.
