Adam Farkas to Join AFM in Europe (and More People on the Move) – September 18, 2019

September 18, 2019 | News, People on the Move

Adam Farkas is the next CEO of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe.

The Association for Financial Markets in Europe has announced its replacement for Simon Lewis. Adam Farkas, executive director of the European Banking Authority,  will succeed Lewis.

The news swiftly earned criticism due to the fact that the banking lobby has appointed on of its former regulators to the job. Farkas is set to take the job at the trade association for banks in February 2020. Critics have called the appointment a problem and will raise future concerns about revolving doors between public regulators and the private sector.

Now, here are more people on the move for September 18, 2019.

  • Andrew Morgan, a senior equities trader, and executive at Deutsche Bank, is leaving the company after 15 years. He will depart Deutsche’s “bad bank” just two months after the German firm established it. The Capital Release group started to wind down hundreds of billions of euros of unwanted assets. Morgan was previously the Managing Director, EMEA Head Cash Equity Trading at the company.
  • Abel S. Osorio is now a Partner at Turnspire Capital Partners. Abel has been at Turnspire since 2016. Osorio has handled a number of roles like creating investment theses, negotiating and executing transactions, and developing corporate business plans.
  • Leanne Wallser is now a Group Partner at Walkers’ Jersey office. This is the fourth new Jersey partner over the last 18 months. Wallser follows Fraser Hern, Nigel Sanders, and Christopher Reed into a similar role.
