The move by Affirm allows merchants and platforms to add a pay-over-time option to their checkout experience in minutes.

Payment network Affirm (NASDAQ: AFRM) has extended its partnership with Stripe to Canada, enabling merchants and platforms in the country to offer its Adaptive Checkout pay-over-time option to their customers.

Adaptive Checkout uses Affirm’s real-time underwriting to offer consumers bi-weekly and monthly payment options that can range from six weeks to 36 months, with 0% APR.

When consumers choose Affirm as a payment option at checkout, they will undergo a brief, free-of-cost, soft credit check that will not affect their credit score. (Businesswire)

The fintech does not charge any hidden or late fees, so the total payment amount will remain the same even if the customer is tardy or misses a payment.

For merchants, offering this payment option at checkout can increase average order value and repurchase rates, as well as drive overall sales. Businesses using Stripe that have already adopted Affirm have seen a 41% increase in average order value, according to the payment network.

Affirm, which has partnerships with firms including Apple, Hudson’s Bay and Samsung, shows consumers exactly what they will pay up front, does not increase payment amounts and does not charge late or hidden fees.
