a16z START is looking for founders in the categories of American dynamism, consumer, enterprise, fintech, games and “other.”

Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), the storied Silicon Valley venture firm, has announced its own startup accelerator dubbed ‘a16z START,’ backed by a16z’s $400 million seed fund. Originally launched in fall 2021, the VC firm’s accelerator has already received over 1,000 applications, funded 11 START entrepreneurs, and is now formally in business. (SILICON ANGLE)

START

“a16z meets START entrepreneurs where they are in their journey—whether it’s honing their product vision and defining a target audience, building and launching their MVP, or scaling an already launched product. a16z START entrepreneurs are introduced to a network of peers, repeat founders, domain experts, potential customers and more to help refine their thesis and scale it into a world-changing business,” says the web page of the accelerator.

“If founding a technology company is a dream of yours—even if you don’t yet have a fully formed idea and haven’t yet quit your day job—we want to hear from you.”

Founders can hope to receive upto $1 million in capital, support from a16z, and the firm’s domain expertise and networks – for example, entrepreneurs building in fintech could receive introductions to its network of debt financiers and payments infrastructure providers, while those building in consumer can meet with community go-to-market pros.

The program is open globally and is remote-first. However, it does not appear to be open to crypto startups.

Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is a highly successful venture capitalist firm and funded companies including Groupon Inc. (NASDAQ: GRPN), Zynga Inc. (NASDAQ: ZNGA), Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ: FB), Twitter Inc. (NYSE: TWTR), Airbnb Inc. (NASDAQ: ABNB), Roblox Corp. (NYSE: RBLX), Slack Technologies Inc. (NYSE: WORK), Coinbase Inc. (NASDAQ: COIN) and Okta Inc. (NASDAQ: OKTA).
