Mecum’s 2020 Kissimmee auction in January will notably feature the 1968 Ford Mustang driven by Steve McQueen in the movie Bullitt.

The Bullitt mustang auction details have hit the web.

Just 18 months it was miraculously found intact in Tennessee. Now, it will feature in an auction that could fetch a monster price.

According to Dana Mecum, auction company president and founder, the Mustang could crush the previous American muscle car record.

The record of $3.5 million ties to a 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda convertible.

The highest auction price for a Mustang so far has been $ 2.2 million for a 1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake.

Art, wine and cars

According to the Wall Street Journal, luxury assets ranked as the best investments of 2018. Classic cars, fancy diamonds, art, and wine outperformed stocks and bonds that year.

According to a report by Knight Frank, cars were the best performing luxury investment over the past decade, returning 289%.

Bullitt mustang auction: A lifetime opportunity for classic car aficionados

“When you put everything together—a cultural icon, connected to a movie legend, and it’s a Mustang—it really stands alone, ” says automotive expert and author Colin Comer. “Now, for someone to actually have an opportunity to own it for themselves—a car that McQueen couldn’t even buy—this is an unprecedented historic event.”
