Challenger bank Revolut launches 3-D secure payments for online transactions
Revolut launched earlier this week a new 3-D Secure payment feature to protect its users from online fraud
Challenger bank Revolut is pausing a new way to protect customers from fraud. its new 3-D Secure payment feature applies only to e-commerce payments, that is those made online, and not to a physical card swipe in a shop.
Revolut is reinventing how a user will pay for online purchases through his credit card. It has done away with painful verification such as hard-to-remember passwords or mothers’ maiden names.
Instead, a person using a Revolut card on a website that uses 3-D Secure will automatically get a push notification from the bank. The notification will ask the user to open the bank’s app and “confirm.”
The procedure helps the bank verify that the owner of the card is using the card to make the payment.
According to the bank, it must offer 3-D Secure to all its customers with effect from 14th September 2019. For the same reason, customers can’t switch the facility off.
