KYC-cleared French customers can now buy Tezos at their neighborhood store.

After Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple’s XRP, Litecoin, and Dash, French startup Digycode has added Tezos (XTZ) to its lineup of cryptocurrency prepaid vouchers purchasable at tobacco shops across France. Digycode has partnered for this purpose with Nomadic Labs, which contributes to the development of the Tezos core software. (Decrypt)

Digycode is a unit of the Toulouse Digital Service group.

How it works

Commencing Tuesday, customers may purchase Tezos (or the other cryptos) after opening a KYC-compliant account through the Digycode website. Once registered, they can buy the prepaid crypto cards at 10,000 tobacco shops, gas stations, and mini-markets.

The denominations are €20 ($22), €50 ($55) or €200 ($220). The crypto amount to be credited will be calculated based on the exchange rate prevailing.

Digycode applies a maximum limit to the number of cryptos that can be purchased in a day (max €1,000) or a month (max €10,000).

“The project is one of the most promising currently, it is one of those we have been monitoring for many months,” said a Digycode spokesperson.

“Integrating Tezos into our services is part of a broader strategy we dedicate to this protocol.”

XTZ on a bull run

Tezos (XTZ) traded at $2.88 and is up over 73% in the past year. It has a market cap of over $2 billion, making it the tenth-largest crypto by market cap.

From being 15th in the market cap sweepstakes at the start of this year, Tezos has moved up to #10 in the space of just five months.
