Venture Capital: Europe’s Isar Aerospace Lands $165M Series C Round
The USD 165m (EUR 155m) Series C raised by Isar marks the largest SpaceTech financing round in 2023 globally.
German satellite launch service provider Isar Aerospace has raised $165m in a series C funding round. The round is the largest financing round in the SpaceTech sector so far this year and is backed by investors including Bayern Kapital, Earlybird Venture Capital, HV Capital, Lakestar, Porsche SE, UVC Partners and Vsquared Ventures. According to the company’s CFO, the round was concluded “at an increased valuation compared to our Series B in July 2021.”
The funds will enable Isar to continue developing and launching its Spectrum launch vehicle, as well as scaling up production capabilities in order to satisfy the high demand for satellite launches. The space startup has now raised more than USD 330 million (EUR 310 million), and claims it is the most capitalized independent New Space company in the European Union.
The company has firm contracts in place with a range of commercial entities, New Space firms and government organisations, and its flight manifest is already fully booked for its first years of operations.
Isar Aerospace plans to launch its maiden flight vehicle in the second half of 2023.
