The PeerStreet Credit Opportunity Fund is a new strategy for adding to a real estate debt portfolio.

PeerStreet, a platform for investing in real estate backed loans, was a pioneer in the field of fractional investing in real estate loans. The crowdfunding platform made the process of investing in real estate loans as simple as buying stocks. It offered investors the resources to create and structure their own customized real estate debt investment portfolios. In response to investor demand, PeerStreet has now launched the Peer Street Credit Opportunity, LP. (BusinessWire)

The Credit Opportunity Fund

The new fund will allow investors to deploy larger amounts in more exclusive debt opportunities such as distressed debt, warehouse financing, and subordinate investments. The fund will also pivot to take advantage of changing market conditions. Investors would, therefore, be able to profit from these strategies.

However, the Credit Opportunity Fund is open only to accredited investors and qualified clients. The fund is suitable for individuals, family offices, RIAs, or institutions.

“This was the next logical step in the evolution of our marketplace and provides more options for different investment preferences,” said Brew Johnson, co-founder, and CEO of PeerStreet. “Just like investors on Robinhood or TD Ameritrade can choose whether to buy individual stocks or invest in ETFs and mutual funds, we are providing similar options to our real estate investors.”

Self-curated real estate debt investing

Brett Crosby, COO and co-founder of PeerStreet, added that platform investors were already setting up their own curated funds using the tools provided.

Many were doing so using the platform’s automatic investing feature. This allows investors to reserve their spot in investments that meet their preferred criteria. They have 24 hours to review the investment and make their commitment.

However, “some investors have made it clear that they would prefer to deploy larger amounts of capital at once into different strategies. We are giving them an easy way to do that,” said Brett Crosby, co-founder and COO of PeerStreet on the new Credit Opportunity Fund. “This strategy allows us to match investors to shifting opportunities that are made available through our nationwide network of lenders.”
