Digital Assets: GDA’s New 8 MW Bitcoin Mining Facility In Sweden To Run On Clean Hydro Energy
The new GDA facility in Sweden is located proximately to a hydro power station.
Genesis Digital Assets Limited (GDA), a prominent bitcoin mining company with a substantial hash rate, has announced a further expansion of its mining capabilities in Sweden. The new “sustainable” facility, operational since June 2023, is located in the northern part of the country and is currently equipped with an 8 MW data center.
GDA plans to enhance its capacity further in the near future. The facility is strategically situated near the 417 MW Porjus Hydroelectric Power Station, boasting access to carbon-free electricity, aligning with GDA’s commitment to green energy use.
In a statement, Abdumalik Mirakhmedov, GDA’s Executive President, emphasized GDA’s dedication to environmental responsibility.
GDA collaborated with a local company to manage the facility’s operations, nurturing local partnerships. This marks GDA’s third facility in Sweden over the past three years.
Tim Carra, GDA’s Head of Nordic, said Sweden was a highly suitable region for bitcoin mining, given its energy sources, innovation-friendly environment, and education system.
GDA is a leading global bitcoin mining company, operating 19 data centers across multiple regions, with a total power capacity of 400 MW and over 120,000 miners online.
GDA was recognized on the Fortune Crypto 40 list as the sole Bitcoin miner.
