“The world is entering a new computing era,” says Huang.

Nvidia’s (NASDAQ: NVDA) CEO, Jensen Huang, believes that the advent of generative artificial intelligence (AI) will enable anyone to become a programmer by simply speaking to a computer. This new computing era, according to Huang, will eliminate the need for traditional coding and instead rely on AI’s ability to understand various forms of input, including speech.

Huang made these remarks during his keynote speech at the Computex forum in Taiwan, where he introduced the DGX GH200, a new AI supercomputer platform aimed at building generative AI models. (CNBC)

Generative AI refers to AI technology capable of producing different types of content such as text, imagery, audio, and synthetic data. Huang emphasized that this technology would understand user intentions and greatly reduce the programming barrier due to its large language model capability.

As a result, Nvidia claims to have bridged the digital divide, enabling everyone to become a programmer by simply communicating with the computer.

Nvidia sees generative AI as the most significant computing platform of our time, with the potential to revolutionize various industries. Creative professionals will be able to generate images from text prompts, programmers can accelerate application development and debugging, and even architects can create 3D models from 2D floor plans. Huang emphasized that generative AI not only enhances new applications but also improves existing ones, making every application better because of AI.

Huang believes that this computing era is unique because generative AI can comprehend information beyond text and numbers. It possesses multimodal understanding capabilities, enabling its impact across multiple industries. Unlike traditional models of application development that require new hardware to accommodate advances like AI, generative AI can enhance both old and new applications, leading to rapid progress and widespread adoption due to its ease of use.

Overall, Jensen Huang’s vision of generative AI revolutionizing programming and enhancing applications has significant implications for the future of computing and the broader digital landscape.
