The technology will enable JLR to monitor its supply chain in real time.

On Monday, carmaker JLR announced a partnership with Everstream Analytics, a company specializing in supply chain mapping and risk analytics. This collaboration will involve integrating artificial intelligence into JLR’s system with the aim of preventing future global supply issues.

By leveraging this new AI technology, JLR will be able to continuously monitor its supply chain, safeguarding the production of both its current vehicle models and upcoming electric vehicles (EVs).

Barbara Bergmeier, JLR’s executive director for industrial operations, said the power of AI would enable the company to proactively manage risks before they disrupt production.

The technology combines AI, predictive analytics, machine learning, and human intuition to identify emerging incidents, such as natural disasters, strikes, data breaches, and export issues, on a global map.

In a post-pandemic world characterized by supply chain challenges, numerous startups and established logistics companies have entered a multi-billion dollar industry focused on applying AI and machine learning to help businesses minimize disruption.

JLR experienced significant impact from the global semiconductor chip shortage, which led to production cuts for various car manufacturers. However, the company has managed to achieve profitability in the past two quarters, contributing two-thirds of Tata’s total revenue in the most recent quarter.
