JP Morgan invested an undisclosed amount in a startup that uses AI and NLP to simplify and focus research documents.

Imagine you wanted to find all references to Netflix in a bulky financial research document. JP Morgan may have made that easier for you by investing in fintech startup Limeglass.

Limeglass uses proprietary rich Natural Language Processing (NLP), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and their comprehensive cross-asset and macro taxonomy to smart-tag each paragraph in context.

Its “Research Atomization” solution will, therefore, find out all references to Netflix in that research document with a simple search.

Market players can now cut to the chase

So you can sidestep information overload. Focus instead on the distilled, curated output of only those paragraphs that are of most relevance to you.

In 2018, JP Morgan selected LimeGlass to join their In-Residence Program for fintech start-ups. The program seeks out startups who can create innovative applications in wholesale banking and capital markets. An outfit that has an interesting concept or product can partner with JP Morgan’s internal business and technology systems. They, therefore, get the opportunity to build, validate, and scale up their solution in a real and live environment.

“Limeglass’s technology enables banks to personalize their research product for both internal and external audiences, maximizing the value for users and ensuring that the correct research reaches the correct audiences,” says the statement from LimeGlass.

LimeGlass graduated successfully from the program. It has now received that most important validation: financial backing from the world’s sixth-largest bank.

“It is all too easy to miss vital information buried deep in large documents, wasting time and valuable research insights,” says Rowland Park. He is CEO and co-founder of Limeglass. “Limeglass cuts through the noise, providing users with only the relevant paragraphs in their financial research with a simple search.”

Looking for providers

Limeglass is now looking to tie up with big providers to add value to and enrich their service.

“The interesting thing is we didn’t touch the editorial process,” Park said when speaking to IBS Intelligence. “If we were going in saying ‘you’re going to have to rewrite things,” you can imagine that it would be a nightmare.”

“We just take the information once it’s written, so once it’s published, we take it, we enrich it, and we give it back to them so that they can do more with it, and have all the metrics,” Park explains.
