Looking for every clip of James Bond saying “shaken, not stirred” for a project ? You got it.

MGM’s massive media library of film and TV has now become more easily searchable. Advertising and marketing people or researchers can use the MGM Clip Locator (currently in beta) to pinpoint all occasions of say, a specific line of dialogue across the library. What’s more, the users can even filter the results based on different parameters such as actor and title. (The Hollywood Reporter)

In the coming months the AI tool would be further developed so that researchers can explore for objects or actions in the library.

Commercial producers looking for content within the MGM archives can now save a lot of time by using the new AI tool, which is claimed to be the first such facility offered by a Hollywood studio. In turn, that would better help MGM monetize its vast media catalog.

“It’s really about exposure and discovery,” said Jim Crosby, svp of digital at MGM to Adweek. “So across all of our lines of businesses, for the licensing team to be able to expose this content and to be able to do deep discovery to find stuff that you would normally wouldn’t find, I think that’s invaluable.”

“If you’re a creative lead on film production, documentary, advertising, and you’re looking for something, you can do this pretty much self service at any time of the day, 24/7,” said Robert Marick, MGM’s evp global consumer products and experiences to The Hollywood Reporter.

Once a user has located the clip they can add it to an online shopping cart and make a licensing request to MGM.
