Nadella was speaking at the ongoing five-day annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos.

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), stated at the WEF that the world is entering a golden age of artificial intelligence (AI) driven by recent breakthroughs in GPT models. Products like ChatGPT, a cutting-edge chatbot that can answer complex questions and even write poetry, are capturing the world’s attention and generating excitement. (World Economic Forum)

Nadella believes that technology will provide more and more ways to bring people together in the future. He also stated that the future of work is not just about technology and tools, but also about new management practices and sensibilities in the workplace.

Nadella also highlighted the importance of public-private cooperation in this virtual age and Microsoft’s role in opening up access to new AI tools like ChatGPT.

“Microsoft is opening up access to new AI tools like ChatGPT,” said Nadella. “I see these technologies acting as a co-pilot, helping people do more with less.”

He provided anecdotes of recent use cases of GPT technology, such as an expert coder who improved their productivity by 80% and an Indian farmer who was able to access a government program despite speaking only a local dialect. Nadella believes that AI is just at the beginning of its potential and the opportunities in the near and long-term are enormous.

In addition, Nadella discussed Microsoft’s plans to lead in quantum computing and the importance of considering safety and security in the design of AI systems. He also emphasized sustainability as a core aspect of Microsoft’s business and its goal to be carbon-negative by 2050.
