ChatGPT can understand and answer complex natural language questions.

OpenAI has unveiled ChatGPT, a new AI system that interacts in a conversational way. As part of a dialogue format, ChatGPT answers followup questions, admits its mistakes, challenges incorrect premises, and rejects inappropriate requests. The new model is based on the advanced GPT-3 neural network that OpenAI first debuted in 2020, and was trained using the Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) method. (Silicon Angle)

The company has acknowledged certain limitations of ChatGPT, including:

· Gives plausible-sounding but incorrect or nonsensical answers sometimes

· The phrasing of the input question can affect the model’s answer. For example, given one phrasing of a question, the model can claim to not know the answer, but given a slight rephrase, can answer correctly.

· Its answers are wordy, even verbose

· It does respond sometimes to inappropriate requests, responds to harmful instructions and exhibits bias.

However, OpenAI comments on this: “Many lessons from deployment of earlier models like GPT-3 and Codex have informed the safety mitigations in place for this release, including substantial reductions in harmful and untruthful outputs achieved by the use of reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF).”

Additionally, OpenAi has opened ChatGPT to a research preview and for people to try it free.
