Alternative Investments/ESG: RBC iShares Launches Four Megatrend ETFs
The four new ETFs began trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Monday, May 2, 2022.
RBC iShares has expanded its ETFs suite with the launch of four new Megatrend ETFs focused on the transformational themes of exponential technologies, clean energy, immunology and healthcare, and cybersecurity.
The four new ETFs are:
- iShares Exponential Technologies Index ETF (XECP)
- iShares Global Clean Energy Index ETF (XCLN)
- iShares Genomics Immunology and Healthcare Index ETF (XDNA)
- iShares Cybersecurity and Tech Index ETF (XHAK)

iShares Global Clean Energy Index ETF
The ETF has been designed to provide investors with exposure to the performance of an index that is composed of companies that are involved in the clean energy sector or generate clean energy. The current index for the ETF is the S&P Global Clean Energy Index.
The ETF seeks opportunities across sectors, geographies, and market capitalization in the renewable energy value chain.
It excludes companies with carbon-to-revenue footprints that are above a certain threshold relative to other companies in the clean energy sector.
The management fee is 0.35%.
iShares Cybersecurity and Tech Index ETF
This ETF provides exposure to securities of issuers that are involved in cyber security and technology, as determined by the index provider.
Investors get an opportunity to invest in global stocks along the full value chain of cybersecurity and tech industries and companies at the forefront of cybersecurity innovation.
The current index for the ETF is the NYSE FactSet Global Cyber Security Index.
The management fee of the ETF is 0.39%.
