Alternative Investments/Digital: Samsung To Launch Metaverse ETF on HKEX
It will be the first APAC metaverse theme active ETF.
The Samsung Asia Pacific ex NZ Metaverse Theme ETF (Exchange Ticker: 3172.HK) will debut on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on July 7, 2022. The listing price of the ETF is HK$15, and the price per lot is HK$750 based on a lot size of 50 units. (Yahoo Finance)
Samsung Asset Management, which is launching the ETF, said the ETF is “a simple tool that can help investors investing in Metaverse related industries in APAC ex NZ.”
The new ETF is actively managed with a management fee of 0.85% per annum. It will invest in companies operating in augmented reality/virtual reality, artificial intelligence, social media, online gaming, digital transactions, devices, platforms and content.
The launch is coming in the face of a slump in the tech sector that has battered metaverse-themed ETFs.
The Metaverse market may reach USD783.3 Billion in 2024 with a CAGR of 13.1% since 2020, according to a projection by Gartner. Specifically, there is outsized potential for the Metaverse in the Asia Pacific region given the emphasis placed on its adoption by enterprises in China, Korea and Japan.
