The fund from Seedstars and Botnar will focus on startups in low- and middle-income countries across the African continent.

Seedstars Capital and Fondation Botnar have partnered to launch the Seedstars Youth Wellbeing Ventures mandate. They plan to invest $20 million in early-stage companies that aim to improve the wellbeing of young people in low- and middle-income countries in Africa.

The investment will target sectors such as health services, environmental sustainability, education, employment, financial services, transportation, and housing. (Seedstars)

The partnership aims to drive positive impact through strategic investment and attract additional capital to the continent. They will co-invest with like-minded investors and focus on countries like Tanzania, Ghana, Senegal, Morocco, and Egypt.

One of their initial joint investments is Chargel, a Senegal-based logistics technology company that has already raised $2.5 million in seed funding. The investment demonstrates the fund’s dedication to supporting companies that enhance the welfare of young people, specifically by enhancing the working environment for young truck drivers in Senegal.

Seedstars Capital is an alternative investment platform focused on emerging markets, while Fondation Botnar is a Swiss philanthropic foundation dedicated to improving youth wellbeing in urban areas worldwide.
