FinTech: Singapore Businesses Can Now Pay From Within WhatsApp Courtesy Of A Tie-Up Between Meta And Stripe

“This seamless and secure experience will transform the way people and businesses in Singapore connect on WhatsApp,” said Stephane Kasriel, head of fintech at Meta, on the new payment functionality.
Stripe has partnered with Meta-owned (NASDAQ: META) WhatsApp to allow businesses in Singapore to receive payments directly in WhatsApp chats using the integrated Stripe Connect API and Stripe Checkout payment page. The new feature allows customers and businesses in Singapore to make purchases and sales directly on WhatsApp without requiring them to visit a website, use a different application, or pay cash physically.
Supported payment methods include credit and debit cards, and PayNow.
The feature is currently available to a limited number of businesses using the WhatsApp Business Platform in Singapore and will be available to more in the coming months.
Stripe has over 100 optimizations for improving online payments, and Singapore businesses using WhatsApp payments will also have access to the Stripe Dashboard.
WhatsApp previously launched business payments functionality in its app in Brazil and India.
