Stripchat is using AI as a high-level marketing tool to make its live adult webcam streams more customer-focused. The webcam platform successfully developed AI to categorize live streams by the kind of sex act and present them accordingly on the main page of its website. Stripchat’s novel use of AI

Stripchat released its end-of-the-year data report on December 10. It said the total number of new users in 2020 was 906.18 million compared to 537.94 million in 2019. The site, therefore, added nearly a billion customers in 2020.

It seems AI has something to do with that torrid performance.

Stripchat has perhaps pioneered the use of AI to analyze live video in the porn industry. Whereas Twitter and Facebook already use algorithms to detect and remove objectionable content from live video streams, the use case developed by Stripchat is innovative, to say the least.

Said Stripchat in its report:

“Our team has developed a machine-learning algorithm to identify particular sex acts within the live-streaming video. We’ve called our AI “Anal-ytics” and it analyzes live video as it happens, allowing us to bring live anal and live blowjob scenes happening at the very moment right to the eyes and hands of our users. In 2020 the total traffic to both categories approximately doubled.”

Back in August, Stripchat announced it had developed “the industry’s first video recognition technology trained to detect butt sex, a popular search on the site.”

Max Bennett, VP of New Media for Stripchat commented on the new technology:

“It allows users to more easily find the content for which they’re in the mood. Tube sites have been able to do this for years with porn because it’s pre-recorded, but this is the first time that live videos will be sorted into specific categories based on what’s happening during the stream.”

The Stripchat team trained a convolutional neural network (CNN) on tens of thousands of images and videos of different kinds of sex acts.

Models also benefit

The AI system ensures that models’ live video streams are correctly tagged and quickly accessible to the users looking for the particular kind of stream. This allows models to grow their fan base much quicker, and boost their traffic and audiences.

According to Stripchat’s report, the top five models made between $388 and $965 an hour.

The site also scored a new single tip record of $16,897.
