The 2023 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) opened today.

The 2023 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai has attracted a record number of companies, reflecting the heightened activity in China’s AI industry. With over 400 participating companies, this year’s event marks a significant increase compared to previous years. The conference, themed “Intelligent Connectivity, Generating Future,” aims to bring together more than 1,400 distinguished guests, including scientists, entrepreneurs, government officials, and international delegates.

The exhibition at WAIC showcases various sectors, including core technology, intelligent terminals, application empowerment, and cutting-edge advancements. Companies are presenting a wide range of products, such as large language models, chips, robots, and autonomous vehicles. Over 30 new products have been launched or exhibited for the first time at the conference. (News.cn)

In addition to the exhibitions, the event features plenary sessions and industry forums, providing a valuable platform for AI cooperation and exchange. It has become an influential catalyst for Shanghai’s AI industry.

China’s AI sector is experiencing rapid development, with the core industry valued at 500 billion yuan (approximately 69.4 billion U.S. dollars) and the number of AI enterprises surpassing 4,300. The country is actively investing in AI infrastructure, with its computing power ranking second globally and over 2.8 million 5G stations deployed. The establishment of over 2,500 digital and intelligent workshops and factories has resulted in shortened research and development cycles and improved production efficiency.

The Shanghai municipal government and several central government agencies, such as the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology are hosting the 2023 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC).

The conference will end on Saturday.
