The funding will help Guild address opportunities arising from “structural shifts in the labor market.”

Upskilling platform Guild Education observes that 63% of workers quit their jobs and seek new employment citing a lack of opportunity for advancement; further, about 76% feel they are unequipped with the skills needed for success in the future of work. Successful employers recognize these difficulties and connect with Guild to bridge the gaps. Guild announced a $175 million Series F fundraising round that will expand its role as a Career Opportunity Platform and help America’s workforce gravitate towards dynamic, in-demand sectors. Guild provides education and learning platforms, career development resources, and one-on-one coaching. About 5 million workers gained access to Guild’s Career Opportunity Platform over the course of the last year resulting from Guild’s tie-ups with employers such as Hilton, PepsiCo, Kohl’s, Tyson Foods, Macy’s, Herschend Enterprises, UCHealth, Sentara and Children’s Hospital Colorado. Membership of the Platform has jumped 140% since June 2021.

“At Guild, we’re grateful to be in a position to serve the 100+ million Americans who are in need of reskilling to succeed in the economy of tomorrow,” said Guild CEO Rachel Romer Carlson. “We’re helping companies build the workforce of the future, while providing frontline workers access to the education, skills and career pathways to build a better future for themselves and their families.”

The funding round was led by Wellington Management. Other new investors included employer partners of Guild’s such as Bon Secours Mercy Health and Citi Impact Fund. Global media leader Oprah Winfrey also participated.

“I believe deeply in the power of education to change the trajectory of a person’s life, and Guild is creating a more equitable path to quality education,” said Winfrey.

Existing investors include Bessemer Venture Partners, D1, Felicis, FPV, General Catalyst, Iconiq Capital, Redpoint and Silicon Valley Bank.
