Every version of macOS from Mojave 10.14.0 to the current version carries a copy of Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin white paper.

On April 5th, 2023, Andy Baio, an independent blogger, published a blog post on his website, Waxy Blog, revealing that every version of macOS from Mojave 10.14.0 to the current version contains a copy of the Bitcoin white paper written by Satoshi Nakamoto. The discovery was made while fixing his printer, and Baio cross-checked his findings with over a dozen of his Mac-using friends.

The PDF version of Satoshi Nakamoto’s seminal Bitcoin white paper is hidden in the OS and can be accessed by typing a simple command in the terminal of any Mac with macOS 10.15 or later.

The blogger also shared instructions on how to access the file via the operating system’s library folder for those who are not familiar with the macOS terminal. The news went viral on social media after Baio’s blog post was published, and Bitcoin enthusiasts celebrated Satoshi Nakamoto’s alleged April 5th birthday with this exciting discovery. (Bitcoin.com)

Baio questioned why the Bitcoin white paper was chosen to be hidden in the operating system. He also found that the white paper had been discussed in the Apple community discussions forum. However, the news never made it to the Bitcoin community over the last five years.

Although it is anybody’s guess on why Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) has hidden the Bitcoin white paper in the operating system, the find has pleased the crypto community. This discovery has shed light on the possibility of hidden treasures within technology that can be uncovered with a little bit of exploration.

The white paper can be viewed here.

Overall, the discovery of the Bitcoin white paper on macOS has sparked excitement and curiosity among users, and has provided a fascinating insight into the potential hidden features of technology.
