Artificial Intelligence: AI Craft Beer Launched By Nola Brewing Co
The first of its kind AI-created craft beer is described as the “taste of the future.”
NOLA Brewery will release its AI Blonde Ale at a Launch Party on June 20 to time with CVPR, the world’s premier computer vision event. It is the first craft beer created by an AI platform, and was the upshot of an experiment by The Australian Institute for Machine Learning and Barossa Valley Brewing (BVB), the latter founded by Denham D’Silva. BVB is the current Champion Australian Small Brewery (SA National Beer Awards 2021). D’Silva is also the co-founder and CEO of Deep Liquid, formed in 2022 to maximize the opportunity to provide critical easy-to-implement AI services to capture and unlock the value in SMEs collective data.
“It’s state-of-the-art technology with the traditional brewing methods, it’s pretty unique and it’s a recipe I would have never done normally but I really like how it tastes its very refreshing and very easy drinking I’m really happy with it,” said Derek Lintern, a brewer at NOLA Brewing.
AI processes the daily beer reviews by nearly 10 million people and produces a beer recipe for the producer saying: “Here this is what the markets thinking,” clarified D’Silva. However, though its recipe is authored manually, the beer is brewed manually.
“AI at its best augments the finest human qualities. It’s great that Denham’s brewing contacts have literally put in a can an example of how AI can positively impact human art and creativity,” says Dr. Jamie Sherrah, a Deep Liquid co-founder and beer lover. “The brewers have told me the recipe benefited from the AI’s ability to access millions of data points and dynamically integrate real time consumer feedback. What is very exciting is this has applications across many industries.”
