“We’re bringing together the #No. 1 AI CRM provider and the leading cloud provider to deliver a trusted, open, integrated data and AI platform.” – Marc Benioff, chair and CEO, Salesforce.

Amazon Web Services (AWS), a unit of Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN) and Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) have announced a significant expansion of their strategic partnership at AWS re:Invent. The collaboration deepens integrations across data and artificial intelligence (AI), making select Salesforce products available on the AWS Marketplace for the first time. This facilitates seamless and secure data management across both platforms, enabling the infusion of the latest AI technologies into applications and workflows.

According to Salesforce’s CEO, Marc Benioff, the collaboration combines the leading AI CRM provider with the foremost cloud provider. The goal is to deliver a trusted, open, integrated data and AI platform, meeting the increasing customer demand for Salesforce products on the AWS Marketplace.

The partnership aims to empower customers to be more innovative and successful in the era of AI.

Key integrations include support for Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service, within Salesforce’s open model ecosystem strategy. Salesforce Data Cloud will expand to support data sharing across additional AWS technologies, with new centralized access controls.

The partnership involves mutual expansion of product usage: Salesforce leveraging AWS for compute, storage, data, and AI technologies, and AWS incorporating Salesforce products like Data Cloud.

The collaboration aims to streamline purchasing options for customers through the AWS Marketplace, offering select Salesforce products. Data Cloud becomes a comprehensive SaaS data platform with Zero-ETL integrations, reducing the need for customers to build their own ETL pipelines. The partnership also enhances customer experiences through unified data management and brings AWS Data and AI services to Salesforce’s Einstein platform.

The announcement outlines plans for a deeper integration between Service Cloud and Amazon Connect, offering Amazon Connect Chat to Service Cloud Digital Engagement and additional forecasting capabilities.

Furthermore, there are plans to reimagine Heroku as the Platform-as-a-Service layer for AI-first apps across Salesforce and AWS, leveraging AWS infrastructure for enhanced performance and cost-effectiveness.

Customers are optimistic about unlocking more value from the expanded partnership, considering previous collaborations that have brought tremendous value to their respective industries. The joint efforts aim to provide a unified, innovative, and customer-focused experience across platforms.
