Investment fund launches and updates for September 4, 2019.

  • U.K.-based infrastructure and small-cap PE manager Foresight is launching its fifth regional private equity fund. The £100 million funds will focus on companies in the SME sector in the East of England. Hence the name: The East of England Fund.
  • Next up, the Asian hedge fund platform OP Investment Management (OPIM) announced a partnership with Hong Kong-based Button Investment Management. The two firms will launch the Button Growth Fund. The fund will follow a long/short equity strategy that primarily invests in U.S., Hong Kong, and mainland China markets. The fund’s manager is Yunye Lu, a well-known poker player and former portfolio manager at HJY Capital Advisers.
  • Buyout shop Lindsay Goldberg is reporting solid progress in its goal to launch its fourth flagship private equity fund. According to reports, the group has passed the 60% mark on its goal commitments. The firm reported $2.8 billion in commitments. It has reportedly sought $4 billion.
  • MiddleGround Capital announced it closed Fund I at $459.5 million. The  Kentucky-based firm focuses on lower-middle market firms in the B2B industrial and specialty distribution sectors across North America. MiddleGround Capital’s founders are John Stewart, Lauren Mulholland, and Scot Duncan.
  • The Greenwave Opportunity Fund aims to raise $250 million for Qualified Opportunity Zone Businesses (QOZB). The firm wants to purchase, invest in, and develop clean energy projects around applications of water, real estate, and energy.
