The strategic partnership is eyeing the “unprecedented momentum that is building up in the space economy.”

Karista and Eutelsat Communications (EPA: ETL) have formed a strategic partnership, with Eutelsat becoming a subscriber to Karista’s Spacetech fund. This partnership enhances Karista’s capacity to capitalize on the growing scope of opportunities building in the space industry. For Eutelsat, it solidifies its close ties with innovative startups and contributes to the development of a dynamic space ecosystem, particularly in France and Europe.

Karista’s Spacetech fund, initiated in September 2021, has been supporting young French and European Spacetech companies with investments ranging from €1 million to €5 million. They focus on startups involved in ground and orbit infrastructure development, harnessing data for innovative solutions across various industries.

Notably, Karista has already invested in seven Spacetech companies, including Miratlas, Leanspace, Cysec, Heex Technologies, Bfore.Ai, Look Up Space, and ConstellR. These companies offer solutions ranging from secure optical links to real-time space surveillance.

Eutelsat, a leading satellite operator, joins this partnership, adding a new dimension to satellite operations and space infrastructure capabilities, supporting telecom services. They have a history of technological innovation and are known for their collaboration with startups. Eutelsat’s planned merger with OneWeb further demonstrates their commitment to innovation in the space sector.

Eva Berneke, CEO of Eutelsat Communications, expressed enthusiasm for supporting innovative startups in the space industry, while Olivier Dubuisson, Chairman of Karista, highlighted the growing interest of satcom players in this rapidly evolving market.

Overall, this partnership reinforces Eutelsat’s role as a catalyst for innovation in the space sector, contributing to the growth of European start-ups in the field.
